  • "It would be less expensive to appoint from within the council. In the past, in so many different sectors, deputies were looked upon as people capable of stepping in to the role above them. If the training was rigorous, such deputies would have the acumen to fill the vacant role in an authority they already knew and had great knowledge of the strategic planning they had been involved with."

New chief executive for Herefordshire Council will cost thousands

AROUND £90,000 is what it takes to find Herefordshire Council a new chief executive.

The council’s employment panel meets next Monday (August 13) to approve the recruitment spend and the £140,000-£145,000 salary for the successful applicant.

Hoople, the council’s “partner company” gets to manage the recruitment and selection process.

Current chief executive Chris Bull is standing down in September.
