Lucky escape after car hits house in Herefordshire
10:58am Thursday 2nd August 2012 in News
A woman from Llanwarne had a lucky escape last night after a car drove into her cottage.
The accident happened just before 11.45pm at her home in Hill Gate, and two fire engines from Hereford attended along with the Incident Support Unit and the Urban Search and Rescue team, both
from Droitwich.
Watch Commander Martin Greenhouse from Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said: “It was fortunate that the female occupant was elsewhere in her cottage when the collision occurred as
the car came through the side of the house into the living room area downstairs.”
He explained that the car was left embedded in the side of the house, and so the woman was advised to vacate the property while an exclusion zone was set up outside.
Structural engineers and builders are expected to attend the address later this morning to carry out a full assessment.
The driver of the vehicle was checked by paramedics at the scene.
