Hereford gets ready to welcome the Queen Hereford gets ready to welcome the Queen

Excitement is building ahead of the Queen's visit to Hereford tomorrow.

Up to 25,000 people are expected to join in with the July 11 Diamond Day celebrations with events on the King George V playing fields from 8.30am to 4.30pm, including a procession and a 1,200-strong royal serenade.

The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh are due to arrive at Hereford railway station at 10am, head to Cathedral Close for 10.15am and then onto the King George V playing fields.

The Royal party will leave Hereford at 11.15am.

Due to the inclement weather, parking arrangements are altered slightly - there will be no disabled parking on the playing field itself. All disabled parking will be in Wye Street Car Park, on a first come first served basis.

One of the free park and stride car parks at the Rowing Club is unusable. Stewards will be on hand to redirect drivers, but Asda is still allowing its car park to be used as a drop-off zone for the day.

If the playing fields should flood, the show will be moved to Hereford Racecourse.

To mark the day, Herefordshire Council has put together a commemorative booklet as a souvenir, which is on sale in city shops for £2 each.

You can follow the morning's events on Twitter at @HTnewsroom, on Facebook and here on herefordtimes.com.

If you're holding a royal party of your own or hoping to meet the Queen in Hereford, send your pictures and stories to news@herefordtimes.com.

'Queen and the duke arrive at Hereford station at 10am'

'the royal party leave Hereford at 11.15am '

The local council DELAYED the building of the new shopping complex on the old cattle market for a visit that's ONLY GOING TO LAST ONE HOUR & 15 MINUTES??
how much this this cost ??
Bet its at least half of what the improvements would have cost !!
UNBELIEVABLE!!!!

'To mark the day, Herefordshire Council has put together a commemorative booklet as a souvenir, which is on sale in city shops for £2 each.' ~ Time and effort that could have been spent filling in a few more potholes I think. The Queen is only here for about an hour. Does this warrant a booklet? She then goes over to spend twice as long over at Worcester so the Hereford visit has just been thrown in as a token gesture.

How can a commemorative booklet have been produced before the event? A commemorative item is by definition a reminder of an event, person or thing. Presumably yet more money will be wasted to produce a second booklet afterwards. I'm not in the slightest anti royal or the royal visit, just anti people being ripped off. Also, if you trade in the written word, semantics do matter!

Celebrate what exactly??
celebrate that our taxes are paying for people to live a lavish lifestyle?
celebrate how bad our city is in??
celebrate that ive got to be stuck in traffic tomorrow just because a privilege couple is visiting our 'run down' city
or celebrate that I am 'like millions of others' work day in day out struggling to pay bills every month.
but then again Im lucky, at least i can keep warm at night .....millions CAN'T!!!!

Lovely to see the Queen but she must be bored to death day after day watching such rubbish. if that was the best Hereford had to offer I can see why it will be longer in Worcester.

Lovely to see the Queen in Hereford, as for the moaners .....shut up and put up its for one day, I did not see any traffic on the roads as a result and if anything it was quieter as they were all there to see the Queen.
And for the moaners who constantly moan about paying taxes , move to a country where you don't have to!

Nice to know I'm not the only republican in Herefordshire! It's truly bizarre that now, in the 21st century, some people still think that a rich if perfectly pleasant old woman, who we have paid to have an easy life, is somehow 'gracing us with her presence' by coming to Hereford for a couple of hours at our expense.

Not exactly a Republican Andrew,
i just hate the government saying that everybody needs to watch there spending, the country is in dept there's no money for hospitals, Policing, firefighters, armed forces and councils 'YET'..... they find money to waste on Olympics, Banks and on a family that's got Loads of LAND, LAVISH HOUSES, Horses, get driven around go on expensive holidays and hold very big parties.
TAXES SHOULD BE SPENT WISELY ON PEOPLE THAT PAY IT NOT WASTED!!!

I trully believe that people should have much more respect for our monarch and the royal family.
Basically if you guys live in one of the best Countries in the world it is indeed thank you to the hard work of the royal family over the past thousands years.
You don't just become a rich country overnight.
And yes we do have to pay our taxes, so have people in any other country around the world!
If you guys don't like to live in Britain where you think you pay so much tax and have nothing in return, try to live under a dictatorship in some African or Arabic countries! You still have to pay your taxes and you won't have 1% of what you have here in this country. And to be very honest the minimal percentage of the taxpayer money spent annually on the royal family is paid back over almost 10 times by their service and also business and tourism brought to this country thanks to our monarch and the royals; on the contrary most of the taxpayers money is indeed spent on those that doesn't want to WORK and live on benifts for years; as per say the herefordshire county is one of the counties in this country with less tax contributions from their people, as most of the population it is indeed quite cozy sat on their backsides and living on benefits and then complaining about how the council keeps the city!! Well, how can the council provide great services, if they have a low budget due people in this county not wanting to work? And then, when we really look into it, those complaining most the times are the ones that doesn't work and take whatever they can on benefits! So let's get the grip and take your facts right my dear fellows.
Now going back to the Queen's visit to Hereford, it hasn't been paid by us taxpayers but indeed by private ( personal, business ) donations, so my dear fellows do get your facts right before starting complaining about what you don't really know, don't just repeat what you hear from others but get your facts right before burping out so much nonsense!
Let's respect the amazing work of our royal family as they bring so much for our country! If you have any doubts about it try to find out a bit more instead of just repeating what you hear from others! Let's stop this criticism and nonsence regarding our royals, let's be a happy nation!!
GOD SAVE OUR BELOVED QUEEN!
