Fractured skull fears after Ross-on-Wye fight
11:00am Monday 9th July 2012 in News
A man suffered a suspected fractured skull during a fight in Ross-on-Wye at the weekend.
Police were called to Ross in the early hours of Sunday following reports that a fight had broken out in Broad Street and two men had been assaulted.
Two men in their early 20s were found with injuries including severe bruising to their heads and broken teeth.
One of the men was quickly taken to hospital with a suspected fractured skull, but the injury was later found not as serious as first feared.
West Mercia’s Inspector Pete Gebbie said: “This incident, although unusual in Ross, was nasty and two men aged 20 and 26 were arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault.
“These two men have since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
“Although we have made two arrests we are still keen to speak to anyone who believes they may have information about this incident.
“Reports suggest that a number of people were in and around Broad Street when this disorder occurred and therefore any potential witnesses we have not yet spoken to are asked to come forward.”
Anyone who witnessed the events is asked to call 101, quoting reference number 0022S 080712.
