Traffic brings Hereford to a standstill

HEREFORD is at a complete stand-still at the moment heading south of the city.

Cars are backed up along Edgar Street all the way to the Starting Gate roundabout in Holmer as the Friday night rush-hour kicks in.

It is understood that there has been an accident involving five cars, blocking Greyfriars Bridge.

I suspect that the main cause is the simply pathetic road layout we have to deal with day in day out; but I feel that may be another story for another day.

Traffic was backed up to the Starting Gate roundabout, down Roman Road and back down Old School Lane to the Blind College! I had to go to Leominster from Aylestone so ducked out of the Carnage and after whizzing through the College Estate went Moreland Ave, down Aylestone Hill and over to Bodenham etc. Seemed to work ... Anyone remember the gas whole at Tesco roundabout the other week? Any little thing between Tesco in Town and Asda will cause chaos during the day ...

This City is a complete joke! all the surrounding towns and Cities have bypasses 'Ross' 'Leominster' 'Ledbury' 'Worcester' but not Hereford thru which all the traffic for the A49 uses! discuss this in more detail at Belmont Voice - belmontvoice.co.uk

dont need a by pass road , just need the lazy people who live on the outskirts of the city to walk to town instead of drive, it would create less fat lazy people and be a inspiration to their kids too.i live in belmont and use my bike if i need to go to town, takes 5 minutes..

Of course we need a bypass! and what about all the traffic just coming thru the city, like all the lorries and vans etc that use the A49!

Titweasel (great name!) has a point, there are a LOT of lazy, lazy people around. But then, so does Belmont Voice... Get the lorries and vans off the road and onto the railways... How's that for a radical idea? Pretty sure something similar used to happen...

Whenever someone suggests a scheme to enhance or improve the City, or the Market Towns, a small lobby of 'antis' protest loudly and then delay and make more expensive, or on occasions, thwart the scheme which would have made people's lives easier, better and the City and the Towns better places to visit. So many are recent arrivals too. Perhaps one day you will rue your actions, or maybe your egos are just too big to think of others, local companies trying to succeed and the Council who get it in the neck whatever they do. Time for the By Pass is now !

Park and ride needs to operated before thinking of a bypass. Very little of the traffic is through traffic so a bypass would have little effect. Any bypass would need to go East to link with Worcester, not the ridiculous Western route that was muted.

What we do need is for Belmont Voice to stop advertising on every post they make!

I cannot see much of the HGV traffic on the A49 being happy to be asked to use Park and Ride. I do wonder if the people who post these wonderful ideas actually try to travel across the City or attempt to drive along Blueschool street at 4pm on a Friday. Bobbob west is best and you know it.
