Job cuts at Hereford manufacturing firm

Hereford manufacturing firm Taylor Lane says government cutbacks and a drop in new social housing has made redundancies likely.

Taylor Lane, which employs more than 100 people at its Rotherwas Industrial Estate home, has confirmed it is part-way through consulting some staff over a “relatively small” number of job losses.

“A large part of our business comes from the manufacture of social housing, and the government cutbacks on spending, as well as a significant decrease in the building of social housing, has unfortunately made this necessary,” said managing director Barrie Lane.

The 30-year-old company specialises in timber frame manufacturing but also works in the growing areas of self-build, roof trusses and Marches Building Supplies.
