Choir contest will help Hereford Mayor's charity

Have you got a song in your heart? If so then you and a group of like-minded friends or colleagues should tune in for news of an event that will strike a chord.

A Last Choir Standing event is planned for Herefordshire in September to raise money for the Mayor of Hereford Councillor Brian Wilcox’s Charities and the organisers are looking for amateur choirs to take part.

A choir can comprise of between four and 20 members and will need to rehearse and perform two songs.

There’s no need to be an established choir – there’s still time to form your own from a group of friends or work colleagues and enter.

All money raised from the gala event to be held at The Courtyard on September 23 will go to The Haven – breast cancer support centre in Hereford and to Robocap, which is raising funds for specialist prostate cancer treatment.

Each choir will get to perform on stage and receive feedback and adjudication from a panel of judges, and there will be trophies for the winners.

There is only room for 12 choirs on the programme so get your entries in as soon as possible.

Send your name, contact details and a short introduction to your choir to fiona.phillips@herefordtimes.com by July 19.
