Queen's Birthday Honours list recognises Herefordshire people

FOUR people from the county were recognised by Her Majesty in the Queen's Birthday Honours list.

David Stevens, from Grafton, near Hereford, was awarded the MBE for services to the community.

The 71-year-old was recognised for his work as an independent member of the West Mercia Police Authority, his chairmanship of West Mercia Crimestoppers and his involvement with the Young Enterprise project.

Patricia Downes, from Tillington, Sandra Gladwyn, from Marden, and Leominster's Richard Hall were the other Herefordshire winners.

The trio will receive the British Empire Medal for services to the community.

Michael Pullin, from Monmouthshire, was also awarded the British Empire Medal for voluntary service to St Michael's Hospice.
