Olympic Torch on route to Herefordshire
12:28pm Wednesday 23rd May 2012 in News
Thousands of people will line the streets of Herefordshire tomorrow when the Olympic torch relay arrives in style.
With temperatures due to reach up to 26 C (78.8 F), huge crowds are expected to watch as the Olympic flame is carried through Ledbury, Bartestree and Lugwardine, Hereford, and Leominster tomorrow and then Ross-on-Wye on Friday.
The torch will begin its journey in Ledbury at precisely 10.05am tomorrow (May 24).
It will go through Bartestree at 10.25am and Lugwardine at 11.01am before reaching Hereford.
It will stop at Hereford Sixth Form College for an hour before passing through the city centre and up to Hereford Skate Park on Holmer Road.
The torch then goes to Leominster before it heads into Shropshire and an overnight stay in Worcester.
Residents in Ross-on-Wye will have a chance to see the torch run the following morning.
There are likely to be traffic delays as the convoy passes through the county and people are encouraged to plan their journey accordingly.
"We will be working with police to ensure that any roads needing to be closed as the torch passes through are re-opened as soon as possible afterwards," said Clive Hall, head of highways at Herefordshire Council.
