Motorist stopped and asked for money near Aymestrey

A MOTORIST was stopped by a man asking for money near Aymestrey.

Police say the man described as having dark hair and being in his forties was attempting to flag down motorists on the A4110 on Monday (May 16).

One motorist stopped and was asked for money in exchange for a ring in the late afternoon.

She told the Hereford Times the man said he needed the money to buy petrol to see his wife in hospital and that two other men were parked in the layby.

The bit they failed to mention was that this is a scam where the nice eastern european gentleman will offer you their chunky gold hallmarked ring/necklace in exchange for £50 petrol money and when you try to chip it in it turns out to be polished brass.
