Serious assault in Hinton, Hereford
11:03am Wednesday 9th May 2012 in News By Paul Rogers
A police cordon at the King George V playing fields end of the footpath.
A Police cordon has been put up after a man was seriously assaulted in the Hinton area of Hereford last night.
It is believed that a man was walking his two husky dogs along the footpath that leads to Peredrine Close/Acacia Close at 7.20pm when he was hit on the back of the head by a weapon.
He then turned around and was repeatedly punched and kicked in the head by another man.
The 30-year-old victim fought back and ran towards the Bishop Meadows, where he realised that he was bleeding heavily.
He called for an ambulance and was taken to Hereford County Hospital with a serious head injury.
The scene has since been cordoned off while forensic teams carry out an investigation.
The suspect is described as being white, aged between 20 and 30, 5ft 11 to six feet tall, thin and with dark hair.
He was wearing a white or beige coloured zip-up jacket, dark jogging bottoms and dark trainers.
Police are keen to speak to any witnesses, in particular a elderly man who was walking along the footpath at about the same time.
Anyone with information should call police on 101 or crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
