Barbara Roden with 9-year-old Sooty
A horse was shot with an air rifle pellet in Madley.
Owner Barbara Roden said that she still cannot believe what has happened to nine-year-old Sooty and hopes that it was a freak accident.
A vet was able to confirm Sooty had been hit in the face, just inches from his right eye, with an air rifle pellet after a difficult operation to remove the pellet.
Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101.
