  • "This farce called the Edgar Street Grid needs some serious thought
with the road infrasructure at the forefront.
As for a bypass yes we do need one sooner rather than later. A missed opportunity when the Great Western Way was created would have been to make this a 2 lane one way road from Belmont all the way through and exiting near to Wiggins on the North Side of the City. Similarly the A49 from Wiggins a 2 lane one way dual carriageway to the top of Ross Road with both roads interlinking at each end. The GW roadway would use the old rail track which is between Mortimer Road & Burcott Road and at the back of Painter Brothers. I do know that a senior person from Wiggins put this idea to the council back in the 70's but was not considered
The blinkers have still not been removed!"

Police raise concerns over Hereford Futures project

THE Hereford Futures project is putting the proper policing of the county at risk, a report claims.

West Mercia Police (WMP) says Hereford Futures and Herefordshire Council have not fully co-operated over proposals for a much-needed new county police HQ on land within the Edgar Street Grid development.

WMP says the council has not shown that it has the cash to acquire all the land it needs for the scheme.

As such, the police will be “strongly objecting” to any compulsory purchase order for land they own within the grid site seen as ideal for that HQ.
