POETRY CAFE - Published poet Rose Flint will be at the Assembly Rooms on March 31 at 8pm to head the bill in an evening of poetry and music. Rose Flint is a poet and artist and her writing reflects her love of earth and her interest in Celtic mythology. She has published four volumes of her poetry and has numerous awards. This is a great opportunity to hear her read from her collections. The evening will include music by harpist Adam Watson and guitarist Gareth Rees-Roberts.

EGG HUNT - Presteigne Little People’s Playgroup has an Easter egg hunt on April 1, at Wentes Meadow, at 11am. There will be lots going on including a raffle and children's activities. The cost will be £2.50 per child which will include refreshments and a prize for each child. Everyone is welcome, with all proceeds going to the playgroup.

RADNORSHIRE WILDLIFE TRUST - Darylle Hardy will give a talk about her search for water voles in Radnorshire and how to help them survive on Wednesday at 7.30pm in St Andrew’s Church Hall. Admission will be £3.50 which will include refreshments (RWT members will cost £2) children are free. All most welcome.

SERVICE - There is Holy Communion at St Andrew’s Church on Sunday at 11am. All welcome.

SEREN - Margaret Morgan, Marion Rowlatt and friends present Shall I Crucify Your King? a staged reading, with music, of an adapted one act play by Frank Hooley featuring Marion as soloist. It all takes place at the Methodist Church on March 31 at 3pm.

This will be followed by afternoon tea.

MUSIC - There is live music featuring Turquoise and Tony at the Royal British Legion Club from 8.30pm-late on March 31.

FILM - The Barrie Gavin film The Man on the Hill was made in 1987 and will be shown at the Assembly Rooms tomorrow (Friday), at 8pm. This is a portrait in words and images of the 19th century nature writer Richard Jeffries. Admission is free but a collection will be made.

FOOTBALL CLUB - The Presteigne Otway Cup is one of the oldest cup competitions in Wales and has been played for in Presteigne for more than 100 years. This year’s competition is down to the semi-final stage. Sunday sees home town Presteigne take on arch Radnorshire rivals Knighton in the first semifinal with a kick off of 2pm. Come and support the boys and have a look at the club facilities. The second semi-final will take place in April.

HEARTSTART - There was a great deal of interest in the free Heartstart course provided by volunteer trainers at the Assembly Rooms in Presteigne on March 1 and it was over-subscribed. Twenty-nine people attended and already a further 13 more names are on a waiting list hoping another course will be put on in the near future. The training delivered was very clear and hands-on and everyone who took part felt it had been enormously worthwhile.
