THEY say that a picture paints a thousand words.

Well this one of Hereford's Ellis Jones receiving a loving cuddle off his mum Tara following his "Happy Feet" operation certainly does that.

Two-year-old Ellis, who has cerebal palsy, has been doing great since he had the state-of-the-art operation on Thursday that, if successful, should enable him to walk unaided for the first time.

The operation came about after Hereford Times readers managed to raise the £45,000 needed for Ellis to have the surgery at the world renowned St Louis Children's Hospital.

In the past hour, Tara said that Ellis has had his epidural and Intravenous (IV) out today, that are used to relieve pain and she had to learn how to move out of his bed and into his buggy.

"We had a small amount of physio this afternoon and he was on all fours playing with cars," she told her supporters.

"He did ask to stand up aswell which he would never have done before, but he can't over exert himself just yet."

She added that Ellis has also been watching a lot of Winnie the Pooh.
