A CANOEIST died after getting into difficulty in the River Teme at Downton on the Rock yesterday.
Steve Wall, who was believed to be from Elton in north Herefordshire, was canoeing by Forge bridge at around 9.40am.
The 48-year-old, who was a member of Wyre Forest Canoe Club, was rushed to Shrewsbury Royal Hospital after emergency services were called at around 9.40am, but he was pronounced dead on arrival.
His death happened a day after fellow member Dave Smith, 49, from Stourbridge, died in another canoeing accident in Cornwall.
