A SMALL Herefordshire village is the international base for an artist who is making a name for himself in New York.
Carl Beebee, who lives and works in Kingsland, has been gaining a reputation for his photography all over the world and is particularly popular with buyers in the United States and Canada.
He has exhibited his work in the UK in London, Nottingham, Coventry, and Hereford. But Carl’s main focus is on selling his work overseas and typically he will do about seven international exhibitions each year.
“My work is well suited to the overseas market and people in the United States and Canada enjoy my work although I have also exhibited in Japan,” said Carl.
In the autumn of next year he expects to spend several weeks in the United States as part of a tour.
His work can sell for anything between £500 and £2,500 for each piece of work and in a large exhibition he will display up to 25 photographs.
The exhibition planned in New York is a one-day show on January 27.
"I will be using it as the opportunity to show some new work and test the reaction,”
said Carl.
Some of the other overseas cities where Carl has shown his work include Seattle, San Antonia, Chicago and Tokyo.
Carl has written about photography in various publications and is author of a book The Polaroid Collection.
