A SHOW of faith in the county’s lifeline rural bus routes took to the road this week.
Stagecoach has launched a new hourly service running between Hereford and Gloucester.
The new-look route 33 replaces that which ended at Ross-on-Wye, leaving passengers to switch buses for Gloucester.
Coined the County Link, the new service will run every hour during the day, Monday to Saturday. There’s a Sunday and weekday evening option too with the extension of the existing route 32.
Ian Manning, managing director of Stagecoach West, said the new service came out of a timetable restructure and the company’s work with both Herefordshire Council and Gloucestershire County Council on re-tendering supported services.
The launch of route 33 and the extended 32 was backed by wide scale marketing campaign which saw money-saving vouchers sent to more than 45,000 households along the routes.
The 33 is one of several service enhancements Stagecoach is making to its Wye and Dean bus network this month, including improving services 35 and 36 which operate between Ross-on-Wye, Coleford and Monmouth and between Monmouth and Hereford respectively.
