THE new autumn Arts Alive programme bursts into action in September with a packed programme of events so varied, there will be something to please everyone.

The season starts with two musical extravaganzas – first up are the globe-trotting Jaipur Kawa Brass Band from Rajasthan, followed by all-time favourites The new Rope String Band.

Local accordion master John Kirkpatrick will lead audiences through The Victorian Farmer’s year in Song and Mervyn Stutter invites you to chuckle the night away with his unique blend of comedy and song.

Other musical highlights include one-off dates with Spiers and Boden, Belshazzar’s Feast and world music from the vibrant Siyaya, Senegalese Sadio Cissokho and Georgian sacred music from the Sakhioba Ensemble.

Drama comes from 13 different theatre companies which will be touring with Arts Alive this autumn – family favourites Northumberland Theatre Company, Fairgame and Oxfordshire Touring Company, innovative Publick Transport with their take on a Dickens classic, AJTC Theatre Company’s version of The Tempest and new drama from Farnham Maltings with For One Night Only and Caroline Horton’s You’re Not Like the Other Girls, Chrissy.
