THREE people have been charged after a number of drain or gully covers were stolen in the Leominster area.
Metal objects were thrown at police vehicles from a van following a pursuit last Wednesday (Aug 31) that started in Pembridge and ended in Bodenham.
A 16-year-old from Hereford has been charged with theft and causing danger to road users, while a 15-year-old from Gwent has been charged with theft and a 22-year-old man from Preston charged with theft of 19 gully covers, failing to stop when directed to do so, driivng a motor vehicle dangerously and driving without third party insurance.
They appeared before Hereford Magistrates’ Court on Friday (Sep 2) and were all bailed to appear at the same court next month.
In total, more than 130 covers have been stolen in Herefordshire during the past few weeks and motorists are being advised to be extra vigilant.
Two men in their 40s have also been arrested after a number of covers were taken along the A465 at Cross Keys, Withington and Stoke Edith.
They have been released on bail pending further enquiries.
