A COMMUNITY venture in Bromyard has unveiled a childcare facility at its new £1million home.

Bosses at the Hope Family Centre showed off their state-ofthe- art extension to guests last Friday.

Sheenagh Davis founded the centre in 1999 to provide support to disadvantaged children and families on low incomes.

It now occupies a multi-use building on Hereford Road and provide services ranging from childcare to adult learning courses.

The extension is the culmination of a decade’s effort and includes workshops, meeting rooms and a cafe.

The childcare wing was opened by town councillor and former mayor, Jamie Jacobsen, who praised its founder.

“I’ve seen it develop from early days from where it was literally some second-hand toys in a cupboard,”

said Coun Jacobsen.

“It’s now the state-of-the-art facility we have today and it’s absolutely fabulous.”

Coun Jacobsen also presented a £900 cheque to Mrs Davis having raised the money during his mayoral year.

Mrs Davis said the centre had become one of Bromyard’s biggest employers and offered something for people aged nought to 90.

“We’ve got a holistic approach to childcare but we offer family support and a lot of adult education as well,” she said The extension was designed by Glazzard architects of Worcester and was mostly funded by Advantage West Midlands.

The light and airy timbedframed building is also ecofriendly and includes cedar cladding, thick windows and heated floors.
