A HEREFORD teacher and her new husband invited some special guests to their wedding blessing.

Rachel Connor and William Dinsmore received their blessing in front of pupils at St Thomas Cantilupe Primary School.

The school in Coningsby Street, Hereford, held a marriage blessing in their honour six days after their wedding.

Led by Rev Terence Bryan the children witnessed the blessing and watched their teacher renew her vows with her new husband.

Two hymns and a reading featured in the marriage ceremony were again used with the children and staff all dressed as wedding guests.

The groom confessed to being more nervous than on the actual wedding day while the bride was delighted to have the chance of wearing her wedding gown again.

Fittingly, it was her class that had the honour of throwing the confetti.

Following the blessing, the children watched the bride and groom cut a cake and the whole school retired to the playground for formal and informal photographs.

The children enjoyed cake with their teachers while a wedding breakfast was prepared for the bride, groom and their guests.

Headteacher Ann Davies said the school was grateful to Rev Bryan for giving the children a chance to see a real blessing which is slightly different to the actual wedding.

"It is not often that a real blessing is conducted in a primary school and it is an experience that the participants, children and adults who witnessed it will never forget," she added.
