A FILM celebrating the work of Arts Alive, the Shropshire and Hereford-shire based charity, will be broadcast on national television channel Community Channel on April 4 at 6.30pm as part of its Untold Stories series hosted by Krishnan Guru-Murthy.

Arts Alive is a charitable trust dedicated to providing local people in the rural counties of Herefordshire and Shropshire with the opportunity to choose and promote professional arts events, including dance, theatre and comedy as well as cinema screenings, aiming to provide access to high quality and affordable arts events in local venues.

Arts Alive is one of 25 charities selected to take part in the sixth series of Media Trust’s volunteer filmmaking scheme, which matches small charities to professional filmmakers who volunteer their time and expertise to create short promotional films.

The film, produced and directed by filmmaker Shane O’Neill from AETN International, demonstrates how Arts Alive events bring local people together to have a good night out and “keep communities vibrant”.

The organisation puts on more than 140 events a year with the help of enthusiastic and committed volunteers.

Sian Kerry from Arts Alive said: “We’re delighted to be involved in Media Trust’s volunteer filmmaking scheme.

“The film has helped us to get across what we do in an engaging and informative way.”

Amanda Whittington, project manager at Media Trust, said: “Shane’s film really captures the impact Arts Alive has on the community.”
