THE Bromyard grandmother of a paratrooper has taken a shot at a military-style poster of a lost cat.

Robin and Helen Wickens described their tabby as an 11- month old recruit presumed “missing in action”.

The poster added that Bill may have been on a rogue mission, being held hostage or AWOL from his town centre barracks.

The cat has since returned but not everyone has seen the funny side of the posters, which appeared a fortnight ago.

Sue Jones called the posters “disgusting” as her grandson is fighting in Afghanistan and the town has many army connections.

“The wording upsets me. I know two people with sons in the army,” said Mrs Jones.

Mr Wickens said no offence was intended and that he used army-speak because he served with the paratroopers himself for three years.

His son is also serving in Afghanistan and he has raised around £600 for Help for Heroes during the last six months.
