THE Saturday Café, the popular series of Saturday lunchtime music gigs at The Courtyard, returns this weekend with a very special treat – a one-off ‘whistle-stop’ appearance from American band Amy Gallatin and Stillwaters.

Dennis Schiavon, of promoters The Music Pool and Nightjar Music, said: “They’re playing the previous night in Coventry and we’ve managed to get them to stop for a lunchtime gig in Hereford, on their way down to Croydon for their Saturday evening show.”

The band plays a fine selection of classic acoustic Americana, bluegrass and roots music.

On September 18, it’s welcome back to the Dave Price Trio.

Then, to round off the month on September 25, the café sees a return visit from the ever-popular Bridget and the Big Girls’ Blues, paying wonderful tribute to the great women of the Blues – Bessie Smith, Ma Rainey and many more.

The Saturday Café is promoted by The Music Pool, Herefordshire’s community music charity, in partnership with The Courtyard, and is supported by Herefordshire Council.

All sessions run from noon to 2pm and admission is free.
