A Hereford man is still critical in hospital after being stabbed in the city.

Jack Hewett, 21, was attacked near Manhattans night club following a night out in the city in the early hours of August 28.

He is a former student at the Bishop of Hereford’s Bluecoat School and Hereford Sixth Form College and was due to return to Wiltshire College in Chippenham to resume an engineering course.

“Jack remains in a critical condition in intensive care and has not regained consciousness,”

said his father Trevor Hewett.

“We would like to express our gratitude for all the love, support and best wishes we have received from Jack’s many friends.”

Ashley Preece, aged 20, of no fixed address in Hereford, has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and is due to appear before Worcester Crown Court on October 4. Three other men, aged 22, 26 and 28, were also arrested in connection with the incident and are currently on police bail pending further forensic investigations.
