A Ledbury town councillor has re-fuelled speculation that a sports ground has been sold off for housing.
Developers are talking to Herefordshire Council about snapping-up land used by Ledbury Town FC and the cricket club.
Councillor Tony Bradford made the claim at the Ledbury Parish Meeting at John Masefield High School on Thursday (Aug 26).
The Deputy Mayor told residents that Bovis Homes asked for his view on a possible 100 homes earlier that day.
The Bovis representative told coun Bradford there had been negotiations between his firm and Herefordshire Council.
Residents also heard that the cricket club would be “amiable” to a move during the meeting chaired by councillor Paul Winter.
Coun Winter dismissed the move as speculation and insisted the land was safeguarded by Herefordshire Council for recreation.
