THERE is no need to fear extra-terrestrial activity if one explanation concerning the appearance of mysterious lights is true.

The Hereford Times last week reported how readers saw moving lights on Saturday, June 12, and this week we can reveal the reason behind the strange skies.

Bob Pearce is convinced the lights were part of the Ledbury Hunt’s Fox Rock ball at The Brainge in Putley.

“We are only 100 yards away as the crow flies. We were aware that the sky was lit up and it was definitely from the hunt ball,” said Mr Pearce.

But the hunt’s ball secretary Laura Redvers is not sure the lights could be seen from a distance.

“We did have a party and we did have lights, because it was that sort of event, but I have no idea whether that was what was seen in Hereford,” she said.

Photos seen by the Hereford Times on foxrocks.com show two search-style lights beaming into the night sky from the Ledbury Hunt ball.

The photos show strong beams pointing in different directions at the entrance to the Putley event, which ran from 7pm on Saturday, June 12, to 4am the followng morning.

Readers from Wormelow, Burley Gate, Tillington, Hereford, Ross, St Weonards and Mordiford contacted us to report seeing what were described as two oval lights going back and forth at around midnight.
