A VISUALLY-impaired organist who plays music from memory will perform at Hereford Cathedral.
Stephen Anderson, a 19- year-old student at the Royal National College for the Blind, will play a series of well-known hymns from the Father Willis organ on Wednesday.
The musician, originally from north London, taught himself to play the organ and in March was awarded an organ tuition bursary by the Diocese of Hereford organists’ training scheme.
Appearing alongside him will be the cathedral’s assistant organist, Peter Dyke.
“Being able to give a concert after just a few lessons is a remarkable achievement,”
said Mr Dyke.
“He has all the potential to join the long and distinguished line of organists such as Vierne, Langlais and others who made successful careers as organists despite a visual impairment.”
The concert is free and starts at 3.30pm.
