THE Courtyard book week kicks off on Sunday with the Reduced Shakespeare Company's riotous new show, All The Great Books (Abridged).

Combining literature and film, the week offers plenty of opportunity for the young and old to be involved.

How to write a thriller with award-winning thriller writer Sam Llewellyn on June 23 at 7pm explores the techniques of writing for the genre, followed by the classic film The Usual Suspects at 8pm.

Watershed Productions' Charlotte's Web, based on the classic by E B White, tells of the friendship between Wilbur the pig and Charlotte the spider, and provides great theatre for children aged five and up.

Productions run from Wednesday, with morning, afternoon and evening showings.

Other highlights include An Evening with Gervase Phinn, dubbed 'the James Herriott of schools', sharing his tales of life as a schools inspector on June 24 at 7.30pm; The Fire Poet, Philip Wells, on June 25-26; and The Battle of the Books on June 26.
