Ross Town 1 Purton 3
ROSS Town remain at the foot of the GLS Football Hellenic League Division 1 West table following a home defeat by fellow-strugglers Purton, despite a spirited performance.
Purton opened the scoring after 30 mins when striker Vince MacMackin shot from 30 yards and the ball flew into the net over the head of Ross goalkeeper Tom Whittaker.
Within 10 minutes the visitors had doubled their lead after MacMackin was unmarked in the box to head home from close range.
The second-half introduction of Ross substitutes Paul Burnham and Adam Bridges paid dividends when Burnham set up Andy Sherlock to smash home his 13th goal of the season.
But the home side's joy was short-lived as, five minutes later, MacMackin set up his strike partner Tom Goodey who cleverly back-heeled into an unguarded Ross net.
