HEREFORD pulled together last Saturday to raise thousands of pounds to fight cancer.

A sponsored abseil down the front of Marks and Spencer in High Town proved to be a great success with 100 people taking part - including local dignitaries Paul Keetch and Colin Rumsey.

The day was supervised by Taste of Adventure with the fire brigade White Watch helping out.

And a variety of local firms - including the Crystal Rooms, Owen Pell builders and the Green Dragon - sponsored the event.

Superb day

"It was an absolutely superb day," said Brenda Savory of Marks and Spencer. "I was really touched by the way everybody came together to help out."

The total raised looks set to top £8,000 with a significant contribution from M & S. And the money will go towards providing a specialist Macmillan nurse to deal with male cancers.
