Madley Festival will be welcoming four very talented instrumentalists who are all finalists in the BBC Hereford and Worcester Young Musician of 2000 competition, and are all pupils of Hereford Cathedral School.

On Sunday, July 23, they are giving a short recital at 2.30pm preceding the traditional service which ends the festival.

Sixteen-year-old Eleanor Briggs began playing the oboe at the age of eight and gained Grade 8 with distinction two years ago. She now plays with the Young Orchestra of the English Symphony Orchestra and is hoping to join the National Youth Orchestra. Her ambition is to become a professional musician.

At Madley Eleanor will play pieces by Donizetti and Grovlez. She has also been asked to play in the opening service of the Ledbury International Poetry Festival.

Rosalyn Hart (violin), Michael Brown (cello) and John Robinson (piano) have been playing together as the chamber group The Jomiro Trio since last September. All three have gained Grade 8 in their respective instruments. They have appeared in numerous concerts at venues including the Bishop's Palace and their performance at the Courtyard Theatre was broadcast on BBC Hereford and Worcester.

Rosalyn Hart is already an Associate of Trinity College, London, and hopes to study music at Leeds University from September.

The Jomiro Trio will play movements from Piano Trios by Haydn and Mozart.

Music for the festival service will be sung by Madley Festival Choir and will include anthems by Charles Villiers Stanford and WK Stanton.

Everyone is welcome to come to Madley Church for the recital and service. No tickets are required.
