NOT only did a number of new entrants win rosettes at the Harewood End Agricultural Society field and livestock competitions but the prestigious best-managed farm classes also drew first-time winners.

Recently-wed Charlie Whitehouse and father Phillip from Bradley Court Farm, Mitcheldean, won the category for 600 acres and over, while Patrick Bailey from Upton Court, Upton Bishop, took the honours for the equivalent competition of up to 600 acres.

Fifteen judges and their stewards criss-crossed over the rolling farmland of south Herefordshire and west Gloucestershire to judge 17 classes.
