THE Prince of Wales will officially open the Royal Welsh Show on Monday, July 24.
It will be the first time that a member of the Royal family has opened the show since 1975 when the opening was undertaken by Prince Philip.
Prince Charles, who has expressed concern at the plight of the farming industry in Wales, will spend four hours on the showground at Llanelwedd, Builth Wells.
During the visit he will also officially open the £2.3m exhibition centre by unveiling a plaque at the new building.
The state-of-the-art complex provides superior facilities for the housing, display and viewing of livestock, and while he is in the building, which includes covered accommodation for 1,500 sheep pens, the Prince will see the record entry of 2,480 sheep from more than 40 breeds - the largest display of its kind in the world.
