GARNONS underlined their dominance at the top of Division 1 of the Flint & Cook Marches League with a crushing 103-run home win over third-placed Ross.

Rob Pritchard's unbeaten 64, plus 58 from Brian Pugh, provided the cornerstone of the reigning Marches champions' total of 243, aided by Alan Jones (35) and Johnny Andrews (30).

The efforts of Duncan Stacey, who took 5-54, ensured that Garnons were bowled out in the final over but the target proved well above Ross, who could only crawl to 140-9 in reply.

T Morgan hit 45 and C Ball managed 32, but the bowling of Ian Strang (3-3), Stuart Griffiths (2-32) and Andrew Brace (2-39) restricted Ross.

The bottom-of-the-table encounter at Knighton saw the home side despatch Llandrindod by four wickets, despite 78 from visiting batsman Jason Appleby in their total of 182-6.

W Aspley (52), A Williams (30) and W Bartholomew (29 not out) guided Knighton, who prop up the Division 1 table, to their first victory of the season.

There was a mid-table wash out when both Crickhowell's match at Bulmers and Wormelow's trip to Goodrich were halted by rain.

However, the weather did not intervene in time to spare Bulmers' top three batsmen, Matt Dunkerley, Richard Wood and Graham Morgan, who were shot out in the first three balls of their innings in a remarkable hat-trick for Nick Francis.
