A TOP British tenor has a date with Placido Domingo - and Hereford Cathedral.
Internationally famed opera singer Ian Storey from Leominster, who sings in the most reputable opera houses throughout the world, will sing in the cathedral on February 19 for charity.
He has been signed up by the Hereford Wye Valley Rotary Club as the celebrity of a star studded concert in aid of the Acorns Children's Hospice Three Counties Appeal.
His performing friends on the night will include Natalia Dercho from Russia, Jahannes Von Duisberg from Germany and top UK singers including Janice Cairns, Michele Hedge, Rod Kennedy, Chris Purves, Richard Coxon, Maggie McDonald and the Royal Academy's Queen's Jubilee winner Helen Ray.
The concert will include music from the operas of Puccini, Verdi, Mozart and Mascagni and songs by Novello, Quilter and Gershwin.
"Ian is always striving to give back to the community whenever it is possible in his very busy schedule, and whilst he performs in the world's most famous opera houses, a charity concert in his home area is certainly as important, if not more important to him," said his publicist Robert Montague.
Forthcoming performances for Ian include sharing the role of Hermann in Pikovaya Dama with the world famous Placido Domingo.
Tickets for the celebrity concert, which begins at 7.30pm, are available from Rotary Club members, the cathedral shop, Outback Classical Record Shop, Nick Fisher Music or Hereford Tourist Information Centre.
