ST EDWARD'S CHURCH -- Father Andrew Pearce presided at Eucharist for the 1st Sunday of Epiphany at St Edward's Church last Sunday. In his sermon Father Pearce spoke of Jesus baptism which marked the start of his public ministry. "The same Spirit that empowered Jesus empowers us," he said. "We have not left our baptism behind us in our dim and distant past. The Spirit continues to enter different people for special tasks, and is the power behind all new beginnings." Audrey Green and Diana Rudge read the lessons. Kevin Kell led the intercessions. Hilary Howcroft directed the choir and Cecil Rudge was organist. Peter Waters and Mr Kell assisted with the distribution of the Communion. Junior Church is now up and running at St Edward's and will take place during the 9.30am service every Sunday morning, except on the fourth Sunday when there is family Eucharist at 11.00am.
