Eastnor played hosts to Droitwich on Saturday and had the better of them by gaining a winning WCL division one draw.
EASTNOR v DROITWICH SPA
Eastnor batted first and lost their first wicket with only 11 runs on the scoreboard. But a partnership of 64 between Adeel and Ishtiaq allowed Eastnor to reach 75, before a further two wickets fell. Adeel reached his 50 but then departed. Ishtiaq 22 and Jabran 29 took the score to 150-8.
A fine knock for Christian Ferreira of 54no, along with Keith Fortey scoring 17no, saw this pair score 52 runs off seven overs. This took Eastnor to 202 off their 50 overs.
Wickets fell to Woodward 3-23, Rogers 3-73.
Droitwich, in reply, reached 154-8, to claim a losing draw. P Bryan (51) and S Walsh (55), along with K Goodard (11), were the only batsmen to reach double figures.
Shahid 3-26, Adeel 2-18 bowled well with J Sandford bowling a 17-over spell with no reward of wickets, but this only cost 45 runs.
DROITWICH SPA II v
EASTNOR II
THE spirit of cricket was in force between these two teams with good banter and a tight finish.
Eastnor batted first and were 46-6 before recovering to 156 all out. Adam Greaves (68no), back after two years' absence, was top score. He was supported by N Haggar (25). G Thomas (5-30) was the main wicket taker.
Droitwich started steadily before S Large (3-27) and J Emery (2-45) reduced them to 76-6. The score slowly closed in on the Eastnor score and, with catches being dropped, Eastnor turned to veteran N Haggar (1-17) and skipper D Jones (2-2) to wrap up the game and win by eight runs. A Fletcher was top scorer with 34.
Village Knockout
EASTNOR'S Village Knockout game against Bretforton was rained off after 28 over had been bowled.
The teams will try again this Sunday but Eastnor have to visit Bretforton this time.
EASTNOR U15s visited Ross to play in the Portman Building Society U15s National Club championship and won by 57 runs.
For Eastnor Vaughan Thomas was top scorer with 43no. He was well supported by Josh Emery 38 and Tom Watkins on 20.
Ross opener Seb Warwick scored quickly until he was caught and bowled by Tom Watkins, who also picked up a further two wickets.
Eastnor play Kington away in the next round.
