Speed cut at two Herefordshire primary schools

SPEED limits have been cut outside two primary schools.

The 20mph signs with flashing lights will be in force during the school run outside Madley and Walford schools for the next 18 months.

The move follows the success of a similar scheme in Sutton St Nicholas.

“These part-time signs will only operate at school opening and closing times,”

said Councillor Brian Wilcox, Herefordshire Council's cabinet member for highways and transportation.

“We want to encourage pupils to walk and cycle to school and this 20mph limit will allow them to do this more safely.”

I think the temp speed limits are better than the blanket limits, where people get fined for 35 in a 30 at 4am on a saturday monring outside a school . . . . it is good to see common sense is applied for once when it comes to herefordshire roads
