CYCLISTS have been warned of the dangers of riding without a helmet after an accident in Ledbury.
This occurred on Childer Road at around 5.35pm yesterday resulting in an Ambulance and rapid response vehicle attending the scene.
John Hawker, press office for West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: “Crews found a child, who was riding his BMX, who had been in collision with a car.
“The boy, believed to be nine years old, suffered multiple minor injuries including a bumped head and leg."
He added he was treated at the scene for his injuries and immobilised using a spinal board and neck collar. He was transferred by ambulance to Hereford County Hospital for further treatment.
Mr Hawker said: “The use of a safety helmet by cyclists can dramatically reduce the level of injury sustained should an accident occur. Unfortunately, on this occasion, the child was not wearing one.”
