ELDERLY people could receive a better service if plans go ahead to merge the county’s four Age Concern districts.
A steering group has been formed to complete the merger and a modernisation grant from Capacity Builders has been won to fund the project.
Simon Marriott, from Age Concern Bromyard and District, has been appointed as interim chair and Colette Colman, from Age Concern Leominster and District, as interim chief executive.
“For some time the Age Concern branches in Herefordshire have been working together informally,”
said Mrs Colman.
“Now we are investigating the potential for formalising this, to move forward as a progressive organisation so that we are well placed to face the challenges in the third sector.”
“If we can present a unified countywide structure it will help us contain our costs and deliver a more effective service to meet the needs of this growing older population in the county.”
Age Concern currently has branches in Hereford, Bromyard, Leominster and Ledbury.
