Antiques sale at Herefords' All Saints Church in aid of Acorns Children's Hospice

FAMILY heirlooms, war memorabilia and jewellery were just some of the items priced up during an antiques valuation day in Hereford.

They were valued at All Saints Church, with more than £300 raised for Acorns Children’s Hospice.

One of the showpiece items was a collection of diamond and precious stone set rings valued at £2,000 each.

Another was a hand-made silver teapot won in a competition in 1952, which would boast a price tag of around £300.

A Montgomeryshire Yeomanry helmet from the First World War was also valued at around £300. A £2 fee was charged for each item valued, with experts from Shrewsbury-based Halls giving the prices and advice. The money will go to the hospice’s Fragile Lives Appeal.

Acorns offers nursing care and support to children with life-limiting or life-threatening illnesses and their families.
