A Hereford group with European connections has said “guten tag” to its German counterparts.
The City of Hereford Twinning Association has celebrated two decades of partnership with Dillenburg.
Some 45 members hit the autobahn to mark the 20th anniversary of the twinning charter.
They spent four days on the trip which included a horse parade, Rhine cruise and a reception.
Former mayor Basil Baldwin made history in May and October 1989 when he signed the twinning charter in both communities.
Last month’s visit was the second part of the anniversary celebrations, as 40 Dillenburgers travelled to Hereford in May.
The group was treated to coffee and cakes before attending a reception introduced by Dillenburg mayor, Herr Michael Lotz.
The mayor also joined a short musical, while Ulrich Mai, chairman of the German-English society, gave a speech.
The Hereford party included seven language students and was housed and fed by local families.
The visit also coincided with two major events – the German federal elections and the horse parade, which takes place every two years.
