CANAL WALKS – The Herefordshire and Gloucestershire Canal Trust is holding its annual open day on Sunday, August 16, at Yarkhill Village Hall, 10.30am to 5pm. There will be a series of guided walks of around oneand- a-half hours along the canal at 10.40am, 11.30am, 2pm and 3.30pm.

Or you may prefer a saunter at your own pace along the signposted route and towpath and enjoy your own picnic.

Yarkhill volunteers will be available to talk about restoration of the Yarkhill site and the history of the Gloucester to Hereford canal. Inside the hall will be illustrated display panels showing the history of the canal together with information of restoration work at other sites along the canal.

Our lady volunteers have been busy baking and will be providing delicious food and drinks for you to enjoy. If you would like to help us at Yarkhill, call Chris High on 01568 615575. Those who plan to walk along the route are advised to wear stout shoes or wellingtons if wet.

The concert was followed by a short service of thanksgiving before everybody was treated to a tea party complete with birthday cake and jelly and ice cream. Chairman David Coleman said it was a fantastic afternoon that marked a very special occasion and he looked forward to entertaining audiences for the next 10 years and beyond.
