Calls to review Hop Pole licence

A BROMYARD pub could face last orders because of anti-social behaviour.

Herefordshire Council could revoke the Hop Pole’s premises licence after police called for a review.

“The Hop Pole has recently been the subject of complaints from local residents about noise and, more latterly, some disorder incidents,” confirmed Pete Butcher, police press officer.

“In response to this, West Mercia Police have called for a review.”

The licensing department has launched a four-week consultation, while a review panel should decide the case in August.

The pub closed in 2007 but the refurbished venue had a change of fortunes under previous landlord, John Bardsley.

The pub hosted several events - including business breakfasts and the marmalade festival - before the landlord quit in February.

New landlord, Alan Jones, declined to comment.
