GRAFFITI poets saw their attempt at ‘direct communication’ erased in Ledbury.
Lines from Robert Frost’s poem, The Road Not Taken, were painted across pavements early on Sunday morning – then cleaned off by Herefordshire Council.
Created as part of Ledbury Poetry Festival, which runs from today (Thursday) until July 12, spokesman Simon Steven said they’d hoped the poem, written in blue water-based paint, could stay until the end of events.
“It would have been washed away by the rain or removed by the festival,”
said Mr Steven.
John Burnett, for the council, said Amey employers erased the poem but could have arranged for it to stay if they’d been asked first.
Graffiti artists promise to be back on Sunday to bring Mirages by Kapka Kassabova to the town’s streets
