PLANS for the Edgar Street Grid’s (ESG) link road have been shown to city residents.

The road, stretching from the foot of Aylestone Hill to the Prior Street junction of Edgar Street, is a key ingredient of the ESG development.

About 130 Aylestone ward residents attended the exhibition at the St Barnabas Church Hall after they were invited by Aylestone ward councillors Nick Vaughan and Brian Wilcox.

“I’m glad residents have been given the chance to see the plans,” said Coun Vaughan. “There was some scepticism but I think that can stem from not knowing what the plans consist of.”

Coun Vaughan said he understood the concern people had over the link road and said it was vital they were given the opportunity to have their voices heard.

n Meanwhile, ESG Herefordshire Ltd has announced Ted Willmott as its new chairman following the decision by Clive Richards to retire. Mr Willmott has been a member of the ESG board since 2006.

Jonathan Bretherton, chief executive of ESG Herefordshire Ltd, said: “I have been privileged to work with Clive as my chairman.

“His immense energy and business acumen have driven us along and the county is fortunate to have his support in so many ways.

“Ted equally brings a terrific range of skills and experience which will be invaluable as we move towards building the infrastructure around which Hereford will grow.”
