LOCAL pupils took centre stage at the official launch of the Hay-on-Wye’s new look Co-op recently.

Hay County Primary School pupils Kizzy Player, Sophie Everington, Matty Tong, Olivia Holloway, Maddy Moore and Sam Harrhy were presented with a £200 donation by store manager Garry Thompson to mark a £250,000 revamp of the Newport Street store.

“As a community retailer it is appropriate that we involve the community in our special events and we are delighted our local school could play a central role in the relaunch of our store,” said Garry.

As well as updated decor, shoppers can also expect a wider range of fresh food, more in-store breads and a wider choice of beer and wine now the branch has re-opened following a five-day closure.
