A NEW book charting the life of a Herefordshire school has been released.

A Country School - The story of Kimbolton St James’ recalls the history of the primary school which dates back to the mid 19th century.

Written by former chair of the school governors, Thomas Pellow, the book follows the school from its Victorian era beginning and profiles its construction, evacuees it taught during war years, and the different headteachers.

It also covers great changes encountered in the education system over the years such as the introduction of the National Curriculum and, more recently, Ofsted inspections.

A book launch will take place at 7pm on Wednesday, June 24 in Kimbolton Village Hall. The book can also be bought at the school’s fete on June 26, from the school during normal hours and from Books Books Books in Tenbury Wells.

It costs £7.99.
